Commercial Manager, ITS
Farooq Mahmood Al Obaidi is Commercial Manager of ITS. He studied at the Institute of Technology in Baghdad and began his career in industrial trading in 1980 by founding the Al Obaidi Company in Kirkuk. He brought Korean manufacturers into supplying Iraq’s state energy facilities, and delivered cold boxes and other critical equipment on the tight timelines that keep plants running. His strength is knowing exactly which equipment a plant needs, down to what it takes to start the generating units that feed the power lines many Iraqi cities depend on. A self-made man, and the son of one.
Commercial Manager, ITS
His roots in Kirkuk go back to his father, Mahmood Al Obaidi (1922–2008), the painter and sculptor who, with two fellow artists, founded the Kirkuk Artists’ Group (جماعة فناني كركوك) in the early 1950s.
